Center for Service-Learning to hold recognition breakfast

RELEASED: April 16, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Center for Service-Learning will host its Annual Service-Learning Recognition Breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. The event is by invitation only. The theme this year is "The Gift of Service."

The recognition is for students, project supervisors from service-learning community partners and faculty/academic staff mentors who have demonstrated excellence in service-learning.

This year, in collaboration with the Center for Service-Learning, the Eau Claire Area School District will give presentations of middle school and high school service-learning projects and recognize teachers who are involved with service-learning projects.

The recipients of two service fellowships will also be announced: the Sally Webb International Service Fellowship ($500) and the Ryan Prechel Community Service Fellowship ($1,250).

Other awards include:

  • Excellence in Service-Learning as a Community Partner (two awards)
  • Excellence in Service-Learning as a Faculty/Staff Mentor (two awards)
  • Excellence in Service-Learning (three student awards)
  • David G. Anderson Community Service Award (one alumni award)
  • David G. Anderson Community Builder Award (one alumni award)
