Student Senate elections slated for April 19-21

RELEASED: April 15, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Elections for the 2010-11 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate will begin April 19 and run through April 21. Students will elect the student body president, vice president and 30 student senators.

UW-Eau Claire students may vote from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. April 19 in Haas Fine Arts Center and Hilltop Center. Voting will run from 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m. April 20 and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 21 in the east lobby of Davies Center. Students must show their Blugold card or valid government issued picture ID card to be eligible to vote.

Running uncontested for president is senior Dylan Jambrek, Waukesha, and for vice president, sophomore Phil Rynish, Seymour.

Student voters will select 12 on-campus senators and 18 off-campus senators for the next session of Student Senate.

Running for the 12 on-campus senate seats are freshmen Trevor Goyette, Chippewa Falls; Frank Heaton, Mineral Point; Kayla Johnson, Wheeler; sophomores Brianna Burke, Darlington; Kristofer Kotlarik, Green Bay; Thang Minh Nguyen, Vietnam; Aaron Rice, Lino Lakes, Minn.; Steven Van De Laarschot, Green Bay; Yuchen Xie, China; juniors Jacob Kampen, De Pere; Ben Krall, Eagan, Minn.; Stephanie Mabrey, Franklin; Mark Morgan, Wausau; Marie Stubbe, Wausau; Sarah Tweedale, Richfield; and senior Kelsey Roets, Watertown.

Running uncontested for the 18 off-campus senate seats are sophomore Patrick Martin, Burnsville, Minn.; juniors Jake Bernardy, Altoona; Jimmy Haggerty, Janesville; James Kust, Eau Claire; Paydon Miller, Green Bay; Melissa Opitz, Saukville; Benjamin Ponkratz, Green Bay; Matt Schulman, Janesville; Allison Shilling, Franklin; Josh Stolberg, Green Bay; Mitchell Wenzel, Cottage Grove, Minn.; Alan Wong, Hong Kong; and seniors Janna Caspersen, Houlton; Maxel Schultz, Waupaca; Matthew Sias, Hudson.
