Aldo Leopold Biking Program to be launched

RELEASED: April 14, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Environmental Adventure Center staff members invite the campus community to attend a noon-hour social gathering April 21 to celebrate the new Aldo Leopold Biking Program at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

"Thanks to the interest in biking, sustainability and financial support at the fifth annual Aldo Leopold Banquet in February, we were able to purchase 15 Trek mountain bikes for our new biking program," said Dan Langlois, EAC director. "I don't think the timing could be more perfect given that Earth Day is the next day and multiple UW-Eau Claire campus initiatives related to sustainability are well under way."

The bikes will be revealed during the social gathering from noon-1 p.m. at the EAC, located in the basement of Hillcrest Center on upper campus. The bikes will be available to the campus community for rental and special programs beginning May 24. According to Langlois, the program will supplement the university's efforts to promote sustainability along the banks of the Chippewa River at UW-Eau Claire, "one of the most beautiful campuses in the UW System."

For more information on the bike program and gathering, call Dan Langlois or Al Wiberg at 715-836-3616
