Continuing Education to offer worksite wellness conference

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present its first worksite wellness conference, "Programming in Challenging Economic Times," from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 8 at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire. The event is co-hosted by Mayo Clinic Health Solutions.

Health management experts Dr. Dee Edington from the University of Michigan and Ralph Colao of Mercer's Total Health Management will be the keynote speakers. The conference is designed for human resource managers, CEOs, benefits specialists, health care/wellness providers and practitioners, healthcare managers, educators, school administrators and others interested in worksite wellness. Topics addressed during the conference will include:

  • The cost of doing nothing.
  • Making a business case for worksite wellness.
  • Building health culture.
  • 2010 best practices for worksite wellness.
  • A showcase of successful worksite wellness programs.

Participants also will have an opportunity to ask questions specific to their workplace setting.

"UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and Mayo Clinic Health Solutions are pleased to co-host this inaugural program featuring nationally recognized experts and practitioners who will share valuable information on the latest trends and best practices in worksite wellness," said Continuing Education director George Kroeninger.

Conference sponsors are Benefit Plan Administrators, Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire and Luther Midelfort Mayo Health System.

The program fee is $109 per person through May 21 and $129 after May 21. The fee covers program materials, instruction, handouts and lunch.
