Registration open for 'Doing Business Globally 2010'

image for Doing Business Globally 2010EAU CLAIRE — "Doing Business Globally 2010," an event designed to help businesses considering exporting and those currently selling products internationally, will be held from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. May 13 at the 29 Pines/Sleep Inn and Suites Conference Center in Eau Claire.

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce has directors positioned globally to help Wisconsin businesses develop international markets and increase worldwide sales. Directors from Brazil, Canada, China and Mexico will brief attendees on the pros and cons of exporting, developing international markets, current market conditions and opportunities around the world.

The program will begin with a presentation by Jeff Darley, chief operations officer for W.S. Darley & Co., winner of the 2008 Wisconsin Export Achievement Award in the small manufacturing exporter category.

Other discussion topics will include:

  • Identification of agents/distributors/buyers.
  • Explanations of foreign business practices.
  • Market research advice and direction.
  • Product potential in foreign markets.
  • How to get paid for your exports.

Attendees also may schedule no-cost, one-on-one appointments with Wisconsin Department of Commerce international directors.

The program fee is $49 per person and includes lunch.

The event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, Momentum West, The Geo Group and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/Small Business Development Center. The Small Business Development Centers are members of the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network, a coalition of more than 100 partner organizations which provide access to services for small businesses throughout Wisconsin.
