SUBJECT: Chippewa River Adventure Camp for girls
More than 30 girls from the area will learn about several exciting outdoor activities later this month during UW-Eau Claire's first Chippewa River Adventure Camp for girls.
The camp participants — girls ages 8-12 — will spend Saturday, April 17, at the beautiful Round Hill site in Durand learning about and practicing kayaking, canoeing, fly fishing and archery. The girls also will participate in rifle range activities and a program on Native American tools. They'll make their own pizzas in the outdoor brick oven for lunch.
The session will run from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Thirty-two girls already are registered for the adventure camp, but the camp can accommodate about 60 girls and there is still time to enroll.
Libby Thurston from UW-Eau Claire's Continuing Education and Dan Langlois from UW-Eau Claire's Environmental Adventure Center are available to talk about this unique opportunity for girls to experience a variety of outdoor activities. They also can put reporters in touch with parents who have signed up their girls for the camp.
Contact Libby Thurston at 715-836-3365 and Dan Langlois at 715-836-3616.
