ROTC cadets receive achievement awards

RELEASED: April 1, 2010

EAU CLAIRE — Several Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were recognized for their achievements at the Northwoods Battalion Fourth Annual Military Ball on March 6. The event included cadets from UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout and UW-River Falls.

UW-Eau Claire sophomore cadets Andrew Marcellino, Wausau, Jack Dillow, Glenwood City, Shaley Muska, Cornell; and seniors Brandon Scott, Reedsburg, and Robert Herther, West Bend, formed the color guard for the evening's events. Senior Bryan Dykstra, Racine, and sophomore Colleen Reid, Stevens Point, sang the national anthem and senior Travis Messmer, Rock Springs, emceed.
The following awards were received by UW-Eau Claire cadets:

  • Travis Messmer, Rock Springs — American Veterans Award and the Military Officer Association of America Award
  • Marc Jerue, senior, Onalaska — American Legion Military Excellence Award
  • Erica Dalziel, junior, Germantown — General Society of War of 1812 Award
  • Zachary Boldon, junior, Stoddard — Military Order of the Purple Heart Award
  • Louisa Denno, sophomore, Blaine, Minn. — Sons of the American Revolution Award
  • Isaiah Eaton, freshman, Hartford — Military Order of World Wars bronze award
  • Robert Herther, senior, West Bend — Military Order of World Wars gold award
  • Brandon Scott, senior, Reedsburg — Association of the United States Army Military History Award,
  • Jack Dillow, Glenwood City — National Sojourners Award
  • Randall Combs, senior, Chippewa Falls — Veterans of Foreign Wars Award
  • Bryan Dykstra, Racine — Sergeant York Award
  • Christopher Smith, sophomore, Eau Claire — Department of the Army Superior Cadet Award
