EAU CLAIRE — The Clean Commute Initiative at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites area bicyclists who support clean commuting to participate in an Oct. 4 group bicycle ride with Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich.
The first Tour de Chancellor — a 21-mile, informal, noncompetitive ride — will begin and end, rain or shine, at UW-Eau Claire's Schofield Hall circle parking lot on Garfield Avenue. Participants should register online before Oct. 4, and check-in for registered riders will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Suggested donations for the ride are $10 for the general public and $5 for UW-Eau Claire students. Proceeds will be used to improve bicycle parking on campus.
Riders will follow a route around Eau Claire and Altoona using a mix of bike trails and city streets. There will be a rest stop at the Altoona Family Restaurant, where Chancellor Levin-Stankevich will buy all participants a slice of pie.
A route map and registration form are available online at http://people.uwec.edu/millerjs/cycling/. For more information, contact Doug Faulkner at 715-836-5166 or faulkndj@uwec.edu.
