EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Symphony Band and Wind Symphony will present a concert at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The Symphony Band, directed by Dr. Phillip Ostrander, will begin the concert with Joseph Jenkins' "American Overture" followed by "Morning Alleluias" by Ron Nelson and "Color" by Robert Margolis. Next will be Daniel Kallman's "Galop" and John Paulson's "Epinicion." The Symphony Band will conclude its portion of the concert with "Bayou Breakdown" by Brent Karrick.
The Wind Symphony then will take the stage, beginning with "Rocky Point Holiday" by Ron Nelson, Jonathan Newman's "As the Scent of Spring Rain ..." and Michael Gandolfi's "Vientos y Tangos." The final two pieces will be "Sparkle" by Shafer Mahoney and "Give Us This Day" by David Maslanka. The Wind Symphony is directed by Peter Haberman.
Following the concert, a short reception hosted by the student chapter of the National Band Association will be held in the lobby of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center (715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC), are $5 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID.
