UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education to Offer
Spring 2010 ACT Prep Course

RELEASED: Sept. 17, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education will offer an ACT Prep Course during the spring 2010 semester at UW-Eau Claire. Students can choose to attend morning classes Jan. 23-March 6 or afternoon classes Jan. 24-March 7. The course offers high school students an opportunity to prepare for the April and June national ACT exams.

The ACT Prep Course covers all academic areas measured by the ACT: English, reading, mathematics, scientific reasoning and writing. Students complete two practice tests and receive in-depth instruction in each subject. This year students also will write an ACT essay and receive feedback from UW-Eau Claire English faculty members. All students receive a comprehensive ACT textbook that is theirs to keep.

UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education youth coordinator Libby Thurston believes the program serves a need in the community for additional college entrance test preparation.

"The ACT Prep Course is meant to complement shorter programs already offered in the community. It's a cost effective option for students who need a little more review," Thurston said. "While many students opt to prepare on their own, some students benefit from a more structured approach."

The ACT Prep Course tuition is $149, which includes instruction, practice exams and the ACT textbook.
