Open House to Be Held at UW-Eau Claire Veterans Center

RELEASED: Sept. 2, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will hold an open house welcoming veterans to the new campus Veterans Center, Room 20, Schofield Hall, from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 10.

Dr. Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students, will speak at 9:30 a.m. There will be time for socializing and refreshments before and after the presentation.

The UW-Eau Claire Veterans Center was established to provide a place of welcome and a meeting space on campus for veteran students, faculty and staff and to honor them for their service to the country.

"We invite all veterans on campus to join us in celebrating the establishment of this new space dedicated to supporting our veteran students," said Dr. Marc Goulet, interim associate dean of students.

As the Veteran Center is developed, it will provide information on resources on and off campus, programming on veteran needs, meeting space for support groups, and access to a telehealth network through a partnership with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.

For more information on the Veterans Center, contact Goulet at 715-836-2003 or gouletmr@uwec.edu.
