CUBEfest Entertainment Showcase
Set for Sept. 6 at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — An entertainment showcase featuring comedian Jessi Campbell and hypnotist Dr. Al Snyder will highlight CUBEfest, a week of activities designed to welcome new students to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The free show will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 6 in Zorn Arena.

Jessi Campbell is an energetic and passionate comedian who travels the country performing her unique blend of high-energy storytelling and deadpan sarcasm. A standout in the 2008 Boston Comedy Festival, Campbell was voted the People's Choice winner for the 2009 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. She is a contributing writer for Life & Style magazine, and her standup and travel videos can be viewed on more than a dozen Web sites, including hulu.com, aol.com and funnyordie.com.

Dr. Al Snyder
Dr. Al Snyder

Dr. Al Snyder combines humor and motivation, traditional stage hypnosis and creative new material in a show that emphasizes audience involvement. Snyder is a veterinarian with a diverse background in working with people and animals, and he often calls upon his experience as a vet to add spice to his presentation. His 15 years of working with youth and nonprofit and professional organizations provide an unending resource pool for stories and antics.

Snyder received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Colorado State University and has worked in mixed animal practices in Wyoming, Nebraska and Montana. He founded the Wyoming State FFA Leadership Camp in 1978 and has had the opportunity to work with, motivate and inspire more than 2,000 young people through that leadership training program.

A Housing and Residence Life initiative, CUBE (Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience) is a program designed to integrate first-year students into the university community. The CUBEfest Entertainment Showcase is co-sponsored by the Activities and Programs office of the University Centers and New Student Orientation.
