Forensics team places at area tournaments

RELEASED: Oct. 29, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team hosted the Mid-American Forensics tournament No. 3 on campus Oct. 24. The team then competed in MAFL No. 4 Oct. 25 at UW-Stout. The team took third overall at both tournaments.

The individual results for MAFL No. 3 are as follows:

Junior Meghan Pickard, Eau Claire, placed first in impromptu speaking and second in extemporaneous speaking.

Junior Alicia Gerber, Ringle, placed second in program oral interpretation.

Senior Nick Miller, Hales Corners, placed third in after-dinner and extemporaneous speaking.

Sophomore Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., placed fourth in poetry and sixth in informative speaking.

Sophomore April Ross, Wauwatosa, placed fifth in extemporaneous speaking and sixth in impromptu speaking.

Sophomore Patrick Martin, Burnsville, Minn., placed fifth in informative speaking.

Senior Emily Schreiner, Wausau, placed sixth in extemporaneous speaking and qualified to compete in that event at the National Forensic Association tournament.

Junior Sarah Taylor, Merrill, placed sixth in program oral interpretation.

The individual results for MAFL No. 4 are as follows:

Albers placed first in informative speaking and second in poetry. She qualified to compete in poetry at the American Forensic Association tournament.

Martin placed second in impromptu speaking.

Senior BJ Pickard, Eau Claire, placed third in after-dinner speaking and fourth in dramatic interpretation. He qualified for NFA in both events.

Senior Jake Johnson, Eau Claire, placed third in extemporaneous speaking and sixth in impromptu speaking. He qualified for NFA in that event.

Sophomore Natalie Hunter, Vadnais Heights, Minn., placed fourth in duo interpretation with Albers. The duo qualified for NFA in that event.

Schreiner placed fifth in informative speaking.

Taylor placed sixth in poetry and program oral interpretation.
