RELEASED: Oct. 28, 2009
EAU CLAIRE — The Women's and Gender Equity Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor "Swap-O-Rama: Finding Alternatives to Consumerism" — a used clothing and goods drive — from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 in The Cabin of Davies Center.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to bring items to The Cabin that they have outgrown or no longer want. Possible items that may be dropped off include but are not limited to gently worn clothing, books, DVDs, hats and gloves.
The swap will allow students to give, trade and take items, which will create a free market and give people an alternative to consumerism. It also will function as a clothing drive for the SANE program at Sacred Heart Hospital, Goodwill and Hope Gospel Mission. A bin will be designated for clothing items that people want to donate. Any leftover items also will be donated to the community agencies.
For details, contact Abby Vercauteren at vercaual@uwec.edu or 715-836-2693.
