UW-Eau Claire to celebrate National Day on Writing Oct. 20

RELEASED: Oct. 16, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's University Writing Center will host a series of activities Oct. 20 to celebrate the National Day on Writing. A resolution recently was passed by the U.S. Senate to recognize the national event.

The UWC will provide informal, one-on-one tutoring sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobbies of Haas Fine Arts Center, Phillips Science Hall, Hibbard Hall, McIntyre Library and Hilltop Center.

Tutoring sessions also will be held on the Central Campus Mall and the Putnam Drive stairway, weather permitting.

A gallery of student writings will be on display in the Grand Corridor of McIntyre Library through October, with hard copies available in Old Library 1142. Students may submit entries for display by e-mail to writingcenter@uwec.edu.

The UWC encourages all students, faculty and community members to submit works to the National Gallery of Writing.

For more information, contact Traci Thomas-Card, interim coordinator of the UWC, at thomastl@uwec.edu.
