Campus seeks donations to help domestic violence survivors

RELEASED: Oct. 13, 2009

V-Day logoEAU CLAIRE — The V-Day Campaign at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will sponsor a kitchen supplies drive this month, with donations going to an agency that helps survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.

Donations of kitchen supplies will be collected from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 21-23 in the east lobby of Davies Center and from 3-7 p.m. Oct. 24 in the university's Water Street parking lot.

Students, staff and community members can donate kitchen supplies, ranging from pots and pans, to dishes and silverware, to trash bags and light bulbs. Kitchen-size trash bags, paper towels, high-efficiency light bulbs and silverware are among the items most needed.

The donated items will be given to the Bolton Refuge House, which offers safety, support, education and other services to domestic violence and/or sexual assault survivors.

Donations from the V-Day event will help furnish the transitional housing units that Bolton Refuge House provides to survivors.

More information about the kitchen supplies drive is available online.
