UW-Eau Claire will host its Freshman Provocation at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, in Zorn Arena. Faculty members will speak during the provocation about how their own liberal educations have affected their personal and professional lives, and why they advocate that students should work intentionally to develop broad content knowledge and skills across disciplines. Faculty speakers will be Dr. Evan Weiher, professor of biology; Allyson Loomis, assistant professor of English; and Dr. David Jones, associate professor of English. UW-Eau Claire will celebrate the completion of a $6.8 million renovation to the McPhee Physical Education Center on upper campus on Friday, Oct. 16. The event will run from 2-3 p.m. in the McPhee foyer. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Visitors can tour the facility at 2:30 p.m. Tours will be conducted by Kinesiology Club and Student Athletic Advisory Committee members, athletic trainers and sport club members.

Dr. Nancy Kerkvliet from Oregon State University will give a presentation titled "Immunotoxicology: potential impacts of environmental chemicals on the immune system" at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Room 413 of Phillips Science Hall. Her talk is part of the Biological Sciences Seminar Series.
