UW-Eau Claire to present program on body acceptance

RELEASED: Oct. 12, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — In honor of Love Your Body Day, Dr. Adrienne Storm of University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Counseling Services will present "I Exist as I Am, That Is Enough: Lessons on Body Acceptance" at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Hibbard Hall Penthouse.

The presentation will address how feelings about our bodies develop, how these feelings affect self esteem, and ways to develop a healthier relationship with ourselves. A student also will share a personal story about recovering from an eating disorder.

Printed information will be available, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Storm has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including hospitals, community mental health clinics and a domestic violence clinic. Her interests include eating disorders, personality disorders, mood disorders and trauma. She serves as the Counseling Services' eating disorders and women's issues specialist.

The Oct. 21 event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Women's and Gender Equity Center at UW-Eau Claire.
