SUBJECT: UW System Board of Regents to meet Oct. 15-16 at UW-Eau Claire

The UW System's Board of Regents will hold its October meeting Oct. 15-16 on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

The meeting agenda and supporting materials can be found at: www.uwsa.edu/bor/meetings/archive/2009.htm.

Below are agenda items/activities that might be of particular interest to local reporters and photographers.

Agenda items:

  • UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Brian Levin-Stankevich, faculty, staff and students will give a presentation titled "Transforming Our Future" to all regents from 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
  • The chancellor and student leaders also will give a presentation on The Blugold Commitment to the Business, Finance and Audit Committee. That meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Eagle Room of Davies Center.
  • Mike Rindo, special assistant to the chancellor, will give a presentation on the campus facilities master plan process and a building projects update to the Capital Planning and Budget Committee. Mike Huggins, Eau Claire city manager, will join Rindo during the meeting to share information about the city and university's ongoing efforts to collaborate on building projects. That meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.
  • Provost Patricia Kleine will give a presentation on UW-Eau Claire's master academic plan to the Education Committee. That meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
  • The full Board of Regents will meet from 9 a.m.-noon Friday in The Dulany of Davies Center.

Special events (photo opportunities)

  • The Blugold Marching Band will perform at 4 p.m. Thursday on the Central Campus Mall. The event will move to Zorn Arena in the event of inclement weather. The marching band will then lead the regents and others across the foot bridge to the Haas Fine Arts Center.
  • Regents will be treated to a variety of musical and theater arts performances from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
  • A reception will run from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday in the Haas Fine Arts Center.
  • The Foster Gallery in the Haas Fine Arts Center will feature works by UW-Eau Claire faculty and alumni. The show is called "Art & Design: Some of Our Own." Regents will be invited to view the show during Thursday's reception.
  • UW-Eau Claire's regent "buddies" will have breakfast with student leaders at 8 a.m. Friday in The Dulany of Davies Center.
