Forensics team places third in Illinois tournaments

RELEASED: Oct. 12, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team competed in the I-74 swing tournaments hosted by Illinois State University Oct. 3 and by Bradley University on the ISU campus Oct. 4. The UW-Eau Claire team placed third overall at both tournaments.

Individual results are as follows.

Oct. 3 results: Senior Dylan Jambrek, Waukesha, placed second in after-dinner speaking, fourth in extemporaneous speaking and seventh in impromptu speaking. He qualified to compete in the National Forensic Association tournament in impromptu speaking.

Junior Alicia Gerber, Ringle, placed third in dramatic interpretation and fifth in prose interpretation.

Junior Sarah Taylor, Merrill, placed fourth in poetry and qualified for NFA in that event.

Junior Meghan Pickard, Eau Claire, placed fourth in persuasion.

Junior Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, placed fifth in rhetorical criticism.

Sophomore Holly Albers, Mazeppa, Minn., placed fifth in informative speaking.

Oct. 4 results: Seniors Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn,, and Nick Miller, Hales Corners, placed first in duo interpretation. Magnusson also placed fourth in informative speaking and sixth in prose interpretation and qualified for NFA in both events. Miller also placed second in persuasion.

Jambrek placed second in after-dinner speaking and fourth in impromptu speaking. Jambrek qualified for the American Forensic Association tournament in after-dinner speaking.

Zahn placed second in rhetorical criticism and sixth in impromptu speaking.

Gerber placed third in program oral interpretation and fifth in prose interpretation.

Junior April Ross, Wauwatosa, placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking and fifth in impromptu speaking. She qualified for NFA in both events.
