EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will host its fifth annual 5K run/walk Oct. 3 in memory of Michael Noll, a UW-Eau Claire senior who died in 2002 after celebrating his birthday. Registration for the event, now named the Fall Crawl, will begin at 9 a.m., with the run/walk starting at 10 a.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center parking lot.
The $20 per person registration fee will go to UW-Eau Claire's Center for Alcohol Studies and Education to support its mission of reducing high-risk drinking through peer education. In addition to awards for best times, a prize drawing will be held. The event will kick off UW-Eau Claire's National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Oct. 3-9.
Noll, of Rochester, Minn., was studying biology at UW-Eau Claire, with dreams of someday teaching. The event is sponsored in part by Jeff and Carol Noll, in memory of their son. Action City will supply music and water for runners.
The run/walk is coordinated by CASE, the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate, the athletics department, and University Recreation and Sport Facilities. For details about the race, contact CASE at case@uwec.edu.
