City street sweeping to affect street parking
near UW-Eau Claire

RELEASED: Nov. 23, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The city of Eau Claire will continue street sweeping Nov. 24 in neighborhoods near the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and will enforce temporary parking restrictions along the affected routes.

Street sweepers will work in the following areas:

  • Garfield Avenue from South Farwell Street to Rust Street.
  • Lincoln Avenue from South Farwell Street to Rust Street.
  • Summit Avenue from South Farwell Street to Rust Street.
  • Gilbert Avenue from State Street to Rust Street.
  • Marston Avenue from South Dewey Street to Thorp Drive.
  • Newton Street east of Farwell Street to Wilcox Street.
  • Earl Street from Porter Avenue to South Farwell Street.

Temporary no-parking signs will be posted Nov. 23 on streets where work will be performed Nov. 24.

Any vehicles parked in temporary no-parking areas will be ticketed and towed, according to an e-mail message to the university from Eau Claire street maintenance manager Mike Barnhardt.

The fine for parking in a no-parking area is $30. The cost for retrieving a vehicle from the towing company is $50 plus storage costs, an Eau Claire Police Department official said in a recent Leader-Telegram article.

The temporary no-parking signs will be removed when street sweeping is completed, allowing vehicles to resume parking on those streets.

For more information, contact the city of Eau Claire Street Maintenance Division at 715-839-4963.
