Registration Opens for Fall Personal Enrichment Courses

EAU CLAIRE — Registration is now open for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension noncredit Personal Enrichment Courses.

Designed for adults interested in learning a new skill, exploring a topic in-depth, or developing creative abilities, the programs are taught by UW-Eau Claire faculty/staff and regional experts who are committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Classes fill quickly so early registration is recommended. Classes will be held at UW-Eau Claire unless otherwise noted.

  • "A Tour of the Night Sky: Astronomy Made Simple," taught by Dr. Nathan Miller, professor of physics and astronomy, will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1.
  • "Exploring the Glacial Landscape of Chippewa County," taught by Dr. Kent Syverson, professor of geology, will run from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 26. The guided coach tour will depart from UW-Eau Claire.
  • "Screenwriting for the Film Industry," taught by Dr. Wil Denson, retired UW-Eau Claire theatre professor and director, will run from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Sept. 15, 22, 29 and Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3.
  • "Writing and Publishing Young Adult Fiction," taught by Marsha Qualey, assistant professor for Hamline University's master of fine arts in writing for children and young adults, will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 24.
  • "Beginning Bird Identification," taught by Dr. Terry Balding, retired UW-Eau Claire professor of biology, will run from 8:30-11:30 a.m. March 13, 20, April 10 and May 15, 2010.

The cost is $95 per program. Enrollment is limited; early registration is recommended.
