EAU CLAIRE — Vicki Funne Reed has been named director of University Recreation & Sport Facilities at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Reed, who has worked for University Recreation for 25 years, has served as interim director of the unit since June 2007. She was appointed as director following an internal search.

"I'm delighted that Vicki has accepted the position of director," said Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students. "She has a passion for health, wellness, intramurals and recreation, as well as for providing quality outdoor experiences for our students."

University Recreation & Sport Facilities provides a variety of programs and services for students, faculty and staff, including aerobics, open recreation, massage therapy, intramurals, sport clubs, wellness education, the Wisconsin Youth Sports Program, and the Association of College Unions-International.

It also provides programming and services through the McPhee Strength and Performance Center, the Bowling and Billiards Center, and the Environmental Adventure Center, which includes the ropes course, indoor climbing wall and the archery range.

All upper campus indoor and outdoor sport recreation facilities are managed by University Recreation & Sport Facilities. Facilities include McPhee Center/Ade Olson Addition, Hilltop Recreation Center Office, Bowling and Billiard Center, Crest Fitness Center, Simpson Fields, Towers Field, Hilltop basketball and tennis courts, Bridgman basketball courts and Bollinger Fields.

University Recreation & Sport Facilities also sponsors the annual Wisconsin Youth Sports Program, a summer camp that gives children opportunities to engage in sporting and academic activities in a college environment.

"We have a great team of individuals who are passionate about recreational sports, as well as serving students, faculty and staff in ways that enhance UW-Eau Claire's living and learning environment," Reed said. "I'm honored to be the new director."
