EAU CLAIRE — Ninety-eight percent of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire graduates from 2007-08 who responded to an employment survey reported they were employed or continuing their education, said Jesica Witte of Career Services.
"UW-Eau Claire graduates have the knowledge they need to excel in their careers, as well as the strong communication and problem-solving skills that employers value," Witte said. "As a result, despite the tough economic times, our graduates are being hired."
Of the 1,812 graduates who were sent the employment survey, 1,214 — or 67 percent — responded, Witte said.
Survey highlights included:
Witte said many UW-Eau Claire graduates are staying in the area, with 24 percent of the respondents who are working reporting that they are employed in the Chippewa Valley. Thirty-five percent are employed in other parts of Wisconsin, while 24 percent are working in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area, she said.
"With nearly 60 percent of our graduates staying in Wisconsin, we are providing Wisconsin businesses and organizations with a talented workforce," Witte said. "I'm especially happy to see that 24 percent of the graduates surveyed are working in the Chippewa Valley. In recent years, we've increased our efforts to help students connect with local employers and discover the many opportunities that are available to them in this area."
