SAI's Annual 'Face the Music' Event Set for May 8 at Phoenix Park

RELEASED: May 4, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — Sigma Alpha Iota, the women's music fraternity at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will host its annual "Face the Music" concert and fundraiser in May.

The free concert will run from 4-9 p.m. May 8 at Phoenix Park in downtown Eau Claire. Scheduled to perform are the following ensembles:

  • 4 p.m. - Polka Band
  • 4:45 p.m. - Shimmy Sisters and Hippy Chicks belly dancing troupe
  • 5 p.m. - UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I combo
  • 6:30 p.m. - Phi Mu Alpha Big Band
  • 7:30 p.m. - Girls Night Out a capella group

For the fundraiser, SAI will accept donations in three separate jars, with each of the jars assigned to a student department assistant. The student with the most money in his or her jar will get a pie in the face at 6 p.m. Participating students are band area assistant Mike Renneke, orchestra assistant Naomi Hasan and choral area assistant Jake Truby.

The money raised will go towards the biannual scholarship given by SAI to a student in music.
