Jamie Daley, Madelia, Minn., was awarded the Outstanding Student Leader award at a recent Council for Advancement and Support of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Programs conference. Daley was one of four recipients of this award for the Great Lakes region of CASE.

Daley was nominated for her work with Campus Ambassadors and other organizations. Ambassadors represent the university at functions on behalf of the Admissions, Alumni and Chancellors offices. At the conference, Daley gave a presentation about the Campus Ambassador program with senior Andy Arends, La Crescent, Minn., senior Jessica Ensrude, Owatonna, Minn., junior Bryan Treichel, Oakdale, Minn., and sophomore Tamika Marchbanks, West Salem. The presentation was titled "What's the Buzz All About? Creating a Culture that Inspires!"

Daley was inducted into Campus Ambassadors in 2005 and was elected president in 2008. She has implemented several new and innovative programs, including training for new members, poster agendas for meetings and e-mail communication with the group.

"Due to Jamie's efforts and excellence in training, members seem more empowered than ever," said Campus Ambassadors adviser Heather Kretz. "Our meeting attendance is higher than I have witnessed in five years. Our number of tours and recruitment events has surpassed previous records."

Daley also is involved with the Spanish honor society Sigma Delta Phi, the Spanish Business Association and the International Association of Business Communicators.

Through the Center for International Education, Daley has worked with students planning to study abroad as an international peer guide. As an International Ambassador, she has welcomed foreign students and aided their transition to the university through a weeklong orientation and ongoing advising throughout the semester.

"Our organization and our university are better for having been served by Jamie Daley's spirit, creativity and loyalty," said Kretz.
