EAU CLAIRE — Ten students who are candidates for University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire bachelor of fine arts degrees will display their work in a senior BFA art show April 3-15 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The public is invited to the opening reception from 1-3 p.m. April 4.

The exhibit will include a variety of drawings; oil and acrylic paintings and watercolors; digital photography, photo and performance art installations; ceramics; and graphic design pieces, including posters, packaging, brochures, identity systems and inkjet prints.

Hanna Agar, Westby, uses recycled paper and newspaper to create stage scenes and costumes that tell a story, capturing the feel of a movie still or a page from a picture book. Although she then photographs her creations, she doesn't consider photography the most important aspect of her work.

"For me, the joy comes from spending hours and hours working with my hands to gain the elation I feel when it all comes together," Agar said.

Hjordi Danielson, Caledonia, Minn., will display her functional ceramic work, which she describes as typically very organic, with a limited color palette.

Nathan Sorenson, Eau Claire, will exhibit drawings and paintings in ink and watercolor. He describes his style as graphic and heavily influenced by comic books.

Other exhibitors are Neil Chappell, Brookfield; Katherine Graham, Woodbury, Minn.; Emily Kubow, Abbotsford; Spencer Ploessl, Waunakee; Danielle Schmitz, Black River Falls; Erich Seipel, Eau Claire; and Kathleen Spaeth, Chippewa Falls.

Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.
