UW-Eau Claire Offers Supervisory Management Seminars

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in April and May.

  • "Supervisory Management 1" will be held April 23 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant and April 14-15 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include the supervisory aspect of management, understanding your leadership style, motivating employee performance and dealing with nonperformance.
  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held April 30-May 1 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant and May 1920 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management, delegating and developing your employees.
  • "Building a Competent Workforce" will be held April 7-8 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include a four-step training design for efficient learning, meshing training styles, benchmarking your skills training against training standards and training tools that ensure consistency.
  • "Improving Managerial Efficiency" will be held April 16-17 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include how to gain productive work time, techniques for paper handling, prioritizing and organizing work, project planning, accelerated learning, speed reading, mind mapping and memory enhancement.
  • "Negotiation Skills" will be held March 31-April 1 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include negotiating project deadlines; work assignments; budget and human resource allocations; and strategies, skills and motivations for negotiating win-win outcomes. Participants will apply the concepts to everyday interactions and specialized contract or conflict situations.
  • "Developing Change Resilience" will be held May 7-8 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. The six sequential stages of change that work in concert with how our brains process information when new situations are encountered are reviewed in this new seminar. The stages include gaining perspective, discovering practical tools, identifying resources and creating change cycle success strategies.
  • "Facing Conflict Head-On!" will be held May 14-15 in Eau Claire at Sweetwaters Restaurant. Topics include the conflict process, frequent causes of organizational conflict, how to diagnosis the root causes of impasse and how to productively manage conflict.

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. The group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, the workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements.
