Eau Claire Jazz Festival Events Continue for Week of March 9-15

EAU CLAIRE — The Eau Claire Jazz Festival is in its second week, offering a variety of free public events. Jazz performances, educational seminars and a jazz art crawl will take place through March to showcase local jazz talent in many art forms.

The Jazz Art Crawl is on display through April 5 at many local venues during regular business hours. Fifteen local adult artists have pieces on display along with student artists from DeLong, Northstar and South middle schools. Venues include the following: Acoustic Café, Avalon Floral, Goat Coffeehouse, Heyde Center for the Arts, L.E. Phillips Senior Center, Infinitea Teahouse, Just Local Food, Ramada Convention Center and the State Theatre.

Jazz events this week include:

March 9:

  • "Sounds of Jazz" adult jazz series featuring Dr. Ryan Jones, UW-Eau Claire professor, talking about the history of jazz, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Ramada Convention Center, Chestnut Room.

March 10:

  • Take 2 and poet Marty Wood at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the State Theatre.

March 11:

  • UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble IV at 6:30 p.m. in the food court of Oakwood Mall.
  • Glad Panda at 7 p.m. at the Acoustic Café.

March 12:

  • Corey Cunningham and Mike Wolter at 4 p.m. at Festival Foods.
  • UW-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble V at 6:30 p.m. in the food court of Oakwood Mall.
  • DJ DP and the Whiners at 7 p.m. at Infinitea Teahouse.

March 13

  • "Swing Music — It's all Jazz," presented by Dr. Ryan Jones, music historian, 2 p.m. at the L.E. Phillips Senior Center
  • Ross Christianson at 4 p.m. at Festival Foods.

March 14

  • Corey Cunningham at 1 p.m. at the Goat Coffehouse.
  • Tom Krochock at 3 p.m. at the Harmony Corner Café in the Old Elbow School Shop.
  • Corey Cunningham at 5 p.m. at Acoustic Café.

March 15

  • Chris Bresette at 1 p.m. at Borders Books.
