UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Places Second and Third in Competitions

RELEASED: March 6, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team traveled to Peoria, Ill. to compete at the Mid-American Forensics League #7 tournament hosted by Bradley University Feb. 28 and MAFL #8 hosted by Illinois State University March 1. Both tournaments were held on the Bradley Campus.

The team placed third overall at MAFL 7. Individual results are as follows.

Sophomore Meghan Pickard, Eau Claire, placed first in impromptu speaking and fourth in extemporaneous speaking.

Junior Dylan Jambrek, Waukesha, placed second in impromptu speaking, qualifying him for that event in the American Forensic Association tournament, and placed fourth in after-dinner speaking.

Freshman James Kust, Eau Claire, placed second in extemporaneous speaking.

Sophomore Alicia Gerber, Ringle, placed fifth in dramatic interpretation and sixth in duo interpretation, along with sophomore Sarah Taylor, Merrill.

Taylor also placed fifth in impromptu speaking.

Junior Laura Magnusson, Apple Valley, Minn., placed sixth in informative speaking and program oral interpretation.

Junior Whitney Zahn, Menomonee Falls, placed sixth in after-dinner speaking.

Junior Emily Schreiner, Wausau, placed seventh in communication analysis.

The team placed second overall at MAFL 8. Individual results are as follows.

Junior Jake Johnson, Eau Claire, placed second in extemporaneous speaking and third in impromptu speaking, qualifying for AFA in both events.

Pickard placed second in impromptu speaking, qualifying for AFA.

Sophomore April Ross, Wauwatosa, placed third in extemporaneous speaking and fifth in informative speaking.

Senior Justin Rudnick, Stanley, placed fourth in communication analysis.

Taylor placed fifth in duo interpretation along with Gerber, and placed sixth in persuasion.

Zahn placed sixth in after-dinner speaking.

Magnusson placed sixth in program oral interpretation.

Senior Jessica Walter, Eau Claire, placed sixth in poetry.

Senior Katie Nichols, Pembine, placed sixth in prose.
