Faculty Members Become Honorary Members of Honor Societies

RELEASED: June 16, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — Five faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were recently initiated as honorary members of two first-year honor societies.

National honor societies Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma recognize academic achievement after an undergraduate's first semester or first year. Honorary members to these societies are nominated by the student members and reviewed based on scholarship, service and commitment to student success.

Following are the UW-Eau Claire faculty honorees:

  • Dr. Marty Wood, interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs
  • Dr. Beth Hellwig, vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students
  • Dr. Marc Goulet, associate dean of students
  • Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, professor of music
  • Dr. Susan Harrison, associate professor of mathematics

Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma are separate organizations on the national level but are merged on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
