Small Business Development Center
to Offer QuickBooks Workshops

RELEASED: July 24, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Small Business Development Center and Continuing Education will offer practical tips and techniques for using QuickBooks 2009 software for small business at hands-on workshops.

Instructor Jim Mattson, an accountant and computer consultant with Bauman Associates in Eau Claire, brings to the workshops more than 15 years of experience helping small businesses develop efficient and effective accounting systems.

  • "QuickBooks Accounting Basics" starts from scratch with software setup, basic accounting tasks, and instruction on using accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 7 and 14.
  • "Using QuickBooks Effectively" is an advanced class for people familiar with QuickBooks software or those who have completed "QuickBooks Accounting Basics." It focuses on security features, customization issues and helpful tricks and reports. It will meet from 8:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 21.

All sessions will meet in the computer lab in Room 204 of Schneider Hall at UW-Eau Claire.

Space is limited, so early registration is recommended. Workshop fees are $200 per person for "QuickBooks Accounting Basics" (two morning sessions) and $100 for "Using QuickBooks Effectively." A discount is available for people who register for both workshops at the same time ($255 total). Fees include instruction, course materials and light refreshments.
