UW-Eau Claire Offers Supervisory Management Workshops

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in February and March.

  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held Feb. 11-12 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse and Feb. 26-27 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, time management, delegating and developing employees.
  • "Supervisory Management 3" will be held March 3-4 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse and March 26-27 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. Topics include working toward more effective coaching, establishing job expectations and developing critical skills in the coaching process.
  • "Maximizing Performance" will be held Feb. 12-13 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. Topics include creating an environment for excellence, identifying what you are rewarding, fine-tuning coaching and goal-setting techniques, diagnosing performance problems, turning around undesirable behaviors and rewarding desirable behaviors.
  • "Improving Managerial Efficiency" will be held Feb. 17-18 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include how to gain productive work time, techniques for paper handling, prioritizing and organizing work, project planning, accelerated learning, speed-reading, mind mapping and memory enhancement.
  • "Improving Team Communication" will be held Feb. 19-20 at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire. Learn critical influence and persuasion skills. Discover how to improve team problem solving and make a positive impact on team performance.
  • "Negotiation Skills" will be held March 31-April 1 at the Cleary Alumni and Friends Center at UW-La Crosse. Topics include negotiating project deadlines, assignments, budget and human resource allocations and strategies, skills and motivations for negotiating win-win outcomes. Participants will apply the concepts to everyday interactions and specialized contract or conflict situations.

All workshops meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. Group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm, attending the same session and registering at the same time. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, the workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements.
