EAU CLAIRE — To gear up for the April 2-5 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Festival, the Chippewa Valley will host a number of jazz-related events throughout March, giving people of all ages a chance to hear jazz music.

All events are free and open to the public.

"Jump, Jive and Read," a preschool music and art series that is one of the educational events, will be begin at 6:30 p.m. March 3 and March 31, and at 10:30 a.m. March 5 and April 2 at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public library.

Preschoolers and parents can enjoy a reading of children's jazz books while live music is performed by UW-Eau Claire jazz musicians. A take home art project also will be provided.

"The library story times will let the children experience a different type of music that they may never have heard before," said Alisha Green, a library youth services associate.

This series is made possible through the collaboration of L.E. Phillips Memorial Library, the Eau Claire Area School District Early Learning Program, UW-Eau Claire Jazz Studies and the Eau Claire Jazz Festival.
