Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser Set for March 12

ceramic bowlsEAU CLAIRE — Ceramics students from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire department of art & design are again helping to fight hunger in the Chippewa Valley.

UW-Eau Claire students will donate 200 handmade ceramic bowls to Feed My People Food Bank for the upcoming "Empty Bowls" fundraiser. Volunteers will serve soup, specialty breads and desserts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire.

The soups will be donated by The Creamery, Fox Run, Houligan's, the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club, and Randy's Family Restaurant. The bread will be donated by Great Harvest Bread Co., and dessert will be provided by area businesses and volunteer groups.

Ticket prices are $18 for dinner and a hand-designed ceramic bowl or $8 for dinner alone.

The number of bowls is limited; advance purchase of bowl tickets is recommended. Advance tickets are available at the UW-Eau Claire Service Center and the Feed My People Food Bank Web site. Tickets also will be available at the door. Guests may dine in or take their meals to go.

Feed My People Food Bank provides more than two million pounds of food and household products to 62 hunger relief agencies throughout west central Wisconsin every year. Funds raised through Empty Bowls will provide nearly 150,000 meals for area families struggling with hunger.
