French Horror Film, 'Inside,' to Screen at
UW-Eau Claire Feb. 19-22

RELEASED: Feb. 5, 2009

poster for InsideEAU CLAIRE — "Inside" (France 2007), a film described as a "neo-horror near-masterpiece" (Village Voice), will be presented Feb. 19-22 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Unrated due to extremely violent content, the film will screen at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Davies Theatre.

Recently widowed, a young woman (Alysson Paradis) awaiting the imminent birth of her baby plans to spend Christmas Eve at home alone — but an intruder (Batrice Dalle) has other ideas.

"I leave you to discover, through covered eyes, the gut-splattering delirium to come," wrote The Village Voice, calling the film "genuinely disturbing, poetic and precise, every cut, frame, shock, and thought fine-tuned to freak you out."

"It's as if directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo sat down and dared themselves to make the most deranged slasher movie they could concoct. They win," wrote DVD Verdict in its stern warning. "If horror's your game, you may not see anything crazier than this all year. If it's not, head for the hills."

The University Activities Commission of the Student Senate will present the 83-minute film, in French subtitled in English.

Admission is $2 for International Film Society members and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff and $1 for UW-Eau Claire students. Tickets are available at the Service Center (715-836-3727) in Davies Center's east lobby and will be sold at the door.

Visit the UAC Web site or the Activities and Programs office, Davies Center 133, for more information about the campus film series.
