EAU CLAIRE — A University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student has won free airfare to Byron Bay in Northern Rivers New South Wales, Australia.
Alicia Albert, Roseville, Minn., entered the Study Play in Byron Bay contest at the encouragement of her peer adviser and her name was selected at random from correct entries to the competition. Albert answered questions about Southern Cross University and the Byron Bay area, where she will be studying in the spring semester.
Albert's prize includes airfare, a seven-night stay in Byron Bay, a tour of the Southern Cross University campus and a snorkeling trip to Julian Rocks in Byron Bay's Marine Reserve, one of the top diving locations in Australia.
Albert said that she has never won anything in a contest before and is excited to study in Australia. It will undoubtedly be a once in a lifetime experience, she said.
