Eau Claire Jazz Festival seeking musicians for April events

UW-Eau Claire jazz students performed at Oakwood Mall during the 2009 Eau Claire Jazz Festival.

EAU CLAIRE — A local music festival sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is looking for performers.

The Eau Claire Jazz Festival is seeking community jazz instrumentalists and vocalists to perform in local venues from April 5-18, 2010, as part of the 43rd Annual Eau Claire Jazz Festival. Local venues will host musicians in partnership with Eau Claire Jazz Inc., showcasing jazz music and helping the community come alive with jazz.

Eau Claire Jazz Inc. will be booking gigs for local musicians at area locations including Acoustic Café, Borders, Oakwood Mall and Fanny Hill.

Other activities during the two-week celebration include a Jazz Slam, a jam session, educational events, an art crawl and much more. The events will culminate with the Eau Claire Jazz Festival April 15-18, featuring internationally recognized artists and student performances.

Eau Claire Jazz Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering continued appreciation for the rich cultural experience of jazz through jazz education and entertainment as expressed through the arts.
