SUBJECT: Expert available to discuss issues relating to Afghanistan and Pakistan

Dr. Tarique Niazi, assistant professor of sociology at UW-Eau Claire, is available to share his thoughts about the policy on Afghanistan that President Obama outlined in a speech earlier this week.

Dr. Niazi's areas of expertise include conflicts in South and Southeast Asia; geopolitics in South Asia; and the ethnic dimensions of conflicts in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

A faculty member at UW-Eau Claire since 2000, Dr. Niazi earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from universities in Pakistan. He earned a second master's degree and his Ph.D. from UW-Madison.
