UW-Eau Claire to Offer Workshops
for Supervisory Management Program

RELEASED: Aug. 24, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will present several workshops from the Supervisory Management Certificate program in September and October. Designed for managers, supervisors and small business owners, the workshops may be taken individually or as part of the certificate program requirements. All programs will be held at Sweetwaters Restaurant in Eau Claire and meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • "Supervisory Management 1" will be held Sept. 17-18. Topics include the supervisory aspect of management, understanding your leadership style, motivating employee performance and dealing with nonperformance.
  • "Supervisory Management 2" will be held Oct. 15-16. Topics include establishing orientation policies and procedures, understanding communication behaviors, managing time, delegating and developing your employees.
  • "Building A Competent Workforce" will be held Sept. 23-24. Topics include how to set up one-to-one job instruction training for efficient task mastery, job documentation, training checklists, and how to adapt to various trainee learning styles.
  • "Maximizing Performance" will be held Oct. 8-9. Topics include creating an environment for excellence, identifying what you are really rewarding, fine-tuning coaching and goal-setting techniques, diagnosing performance problems, turning around undesirable behaviors and rewarding desirable behaviors.

Individual course fees are $425 per person and include lunch, breaks, materials and instruction. Group fee is $375 per person for three to five people from the same firm attending the same session and registering at the same time. Series fee is $1,125 per individual registering for Supervisory Management 1, 2, and 3 at the same time.
