Media Memo: Student Thanks Donor by Performing for Senior Citizens Tonight

TO: News/Photo Editors and Directors

FROM: Judy Berthiaume, Director

DATE: April 30, 2009

SUBJECT: Student Thanks Donor by Performing for Senior Citizens Tonight

UW-Eau Claire music major James Kellerman, a nontraditional student who is a single parent, will thank the people who donated money for a scholarship he recently received by performing a free concert for the senior community.

Kellerman, who received the Susan Bruce Single Parent Scholarship, will perform at 7:15 p.m. today (April 30) at Oakwood Hills apartments, 4316 Oakwood Hills Parkway, Eau Claire.

As a thank you to his benefactors, Kellerman offered to do a free music show for seniors at a senior citizen community of the benefactors' choice.

Kellerman has been professionally performing entertainment programs at senior citizen residences around the country for the last six years. His show includes music from 1895 early parlor piano to early jazz tunes from 1920-30. He uses background tracks of live musicians to back up his saxophone, clarinet, flute and singing.

Kellerman will graduate in December with a degree in music composition.
