UW-Eau Claire Theatre Department Announces Cast for 'The Shadow Box'

image for The Shadow BoxEAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin theatre arts department will present "The Shadow Box" at 7:30 p.m. April 30, May 1-2 and May 6-9 in Kjer Theatre, with a matinee performance at 1:30 p.m. May 3.

Directed by Richard Nimke, associate professor of music, "The Shadow Box" was written by Michael Cristofer and tells the story of three terminally ill patients who live in a cottage at a hospice in California in 1977. With a mix of humor and sensitivity, the play dramatizes the patients' and their families' anxieties and fears. The play earned a Tony Award for "Best Play" in 1977, as well as a 1977 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Cast members for "The Shadow Box include senior Eddie Neve, DeForest, as Joe; senior Chris Goltz, Marinette, as Mark; sophomore Matt Tatone, Golden Valley, Minn., as Steve; and senior Hanna Agar, Westby, as Maggie. Junior Charlene Lucht, Greenville, is Beverly; senior C.J. Krueger, Rochester, Minn., is Brian; freshman Evan Wilberg, Anoka, Minn., is The Interviewer; senior Jillian Phillips, Eau Claire, is Felicity and senior Brittany Gusho, Milwaukee, is Agnes.

Scenic and lighting design is by Kevin D. Gawley. Costume design is by Mallory Prucha Rishoi. Sound design is by Richard Nimke. Properties design is by Stephanie Kass. Makeup design is by Shane Capaul. Technical direction is by Arthur F. Gulig,. Sheena Thompson is production manager, Autumn Wilson is stage manager. Dominique Sicard is assistant stage manager. Angela Busse is house manager. Dustin Haugle is assistant scenic designer. Devin Barnes is assistant lighting designer. Maureen McShane is light board operator. Karen Solberg is sound board operator. Ben Klema oversees the running crew. Shaun Workenaour oversees the costume running crew.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $10 for the general public, $8 for those 62 and older and faculty and staff, $6 for children under 18, and $2.50 for students with a university ID.
