EAU CLAIRE — Emilia Dahlin will present three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire May 1-2. Her shows will begin at 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday and at 8 p.m. Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.

Wielding strong storytelling sensibilities and a voice that defies the size of her body, Emilia Dahlin has carved out her name as a unique singer-songwriter. She weaves tales — complete with Greek myths, robotic messiahs, epic floods and tax evaders — with raw, rootsy folk and dynamic jazz vocals. The quintessential indie musician, she is a self-made original who wears the hat of artist, manager, booking agent and publicist all at once. Her fourth CD, "Rattle Them Bones," was released April 24.

Dahlin resides in Portland, Maine, where she was voted Best Singer/Songwriter of 2006 and Best Female Vocalist of 2005. A finalist in Boston's NEMO Songwriting Competition (2005) and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival's Troubadour Competition (2006), she won the Great Waters Songwriting Competition in 2007. She has showcased at the NEMO Music Festival and at conferences of the National Association for Campus Activities.

Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, specialty coffee drinks and tea are sold at all evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

All performances are produced and managed completely by student members of The Cabin committee of the Student Senate's University Activities Commission. For a complete schedule of the semester's Cabin presentations, contact the Activities and Programs office, 715-836-4833, or visit the Cabin Web site.
