Two UW-Eau Claire Juniors Place in National Sales Competition

RELEASED: April 14, 2009

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire junior Patrick Delehanty, Verona, earned second place in the Pi Sigma Epsilon Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon sales competition at PSE's national conference held in March in Norfolk, Va.

Junior Patrick Lemieux, Cambridge/Isanti, Minn., also was a finalist and placed seventh. Both students are marketing majors with an emphasis in sales.

Learning professional selling techniques based on the SPIN Selling principles created by Huthwaite Inc. and Anthony Parinello's "Getting the Second Appointment," Delehanty and Lemieux were first coached by sales professionals and then presented mock sales calls to a panel of judges.

Nearly 90 participants from schools across the country competed. For his second place win, Delehanty received a trophy and a cash prize of $1,000.

With support from Vector Marketing Corporation, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Kodak, the Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon has helped develop and train aspiring sales people since 1992.

Pi Sigma Epsilon, the nation's only professional business fraternity for men and women in the fields of sales, marketing and management, has enriched the lives of more than 40,000 people and spread to more than 150 campuses nationwide since its inception in 1952.
