Jazz in the Valley Calls Artists
to Submit Work for Jazz Fest 2009

RELEASED: Sept. 25, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — Jazz in the Valley has launched its call for artists from throughout the Midwest to submit jazz-inspired artwork for the 2009 Jazz Festival, slated for March 2, 2009, to April 6, 2009, in Eau Claire.

The festival will culminate with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 42nd annual Jazz Festival, April 2-5, 2009.

As part of the Jazz in the Valley Art Crawl, submitted works will be displayed and for sale at various Chippewa Valley venues, including the Acoustic Café, Porter's Restaurant and Bar in downtown Eau Claire's Ramada Inn and Convention Center, The Goat Coffee House on Water Street, and the Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls.

The art crawl will be one of several events during the month-long celebration of America's only original art form. Other Jazz in the Valley events will include educational seminars, concerts, poetry readings and special restaurant menus, all with a jazz theme.

In conjunction with regional artist participation, three Eau Claire Middle School art classes will create their own unique jazz-themed artwork to be displayed at various locations throughout Eau Claire, including area schools, businesses and UW-Eau Claire. All art will be displayed from March 2-April 6.

Artists interested in submitting artwork should e-mail jazzinthevalley@gmail.com for a registration form. Questions may be directed to Alice Anderson at 715-838-0507. The registration deadline is Nov. 15.
