Pop-Rock Band We The Living
To Perform Free Outdoor Concert

RELEASED: Sept. 8, 2008

EAU CLAIRE — Los Angeles-based alternative pop-rock band We The Living will Group members of We The Livingheadline a free outdoor concert Sept. 12 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Special guest Civalias will open the show at 7 p.m. on the Central Campus Mall.

We The Living was founded in Madison in 2006 by John Paul Roney and Benjamin Schaefer, formerly of the acclaimed Midwestern acoustic rock band The Profits. Aiming for a new sound and musical direction, Roney and Schaefer sought out guitarist Matt Holmen and bassist Stefan Benkowski. With a name that comes from the band's shared interest in philosophy, We The Living has a sound influenced by U2, Coldplay and David Gray.

After a year of touring and grass-roots fan-building, We The Living is on a national college/club tour in support of its debut CD, "Heights of the Heavens" (2008).

Also hailing from Los Angeles, Civalias is the project brainchild of songwriter Adam Stidham. Conjuring influences such as Aqualung, Coldplay and Radiohead, his infectiously melodic sound can be heard on the just-released EP, "You.Me.We."

In the event of rain, the show will move to the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.

Sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate, the free concert is open to all ages.
