The newly formed Mahjong Club invites students and community members to learn how to play the Chinese game of mahjong from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the Intermezzos Café in Davies Center. The event is one of a series of Chinese cultural events planned to welcome four Chinese students to campus and to share Chinese culture with the campus and Eau Claire community. The students are the first participants in the China 1+2+1 Partnership Program. Students in the partnership program — facilitated through the China Center for International Educational Exchange and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities — will spend a year at a Chinese university, study at UW-Eau Claire for two years and return to China for their final year. After completing requirements at both institutions, students receive bachelor's degrees from UW-Eau Claire and the institution in China. For details, contact Shu-Chuan Cheng, UW-Eau Claire China 1+2+1 Partnership program coordinator, at 715-836-4411 or chengshu@uwec.edu.
