SUBJECT: Students to help elderly with yard work Nov. 1

UW-Eau Claire students will volunteer their time Nov. 1 to help several elderly community members with their yard work and fall cleanup.

Teams of students will participate in "Tidy Up the Town" at several locations in the Eau Claire area on Saturday.

Photographers and reporters who are interested in covering the students' volunteer efforts are invited to these work locations in Eau Claire: 3807 Chippewa River Dr., 2625 Haanstad Road, 2212 Altoona Ave., 1515 Taft Ave. and 816 Niagara St. In Altoona they will do yard work at 828 Alsace St. Students will begin their work by 10:30 a.m. When they are done at these homes, all the student volunteers will gather to clean up a large yard at 5240 Clay St. in Eau Claire.

The media is welcome to photograph the student volunteers working at the homes, but for the safety of the homeowners, please do not include specific addresses in your news coverage.

The event is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire's Activities and Programs office and Community Action and Lifelong Learning Program.
