RELEASED: Oct. 23, 2008
EAU CLAIRE — A number of residence halls at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will welcome trick-or-treaters from Eau Claire elementary school age and younger children from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31. Sutherland Hall also will offer a haunted house from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
In some upper campus halls — Bridgman, Sutherland, Oak Ridge, Governors, Chancellors and Towers Halls — trick-or-treaters can go door-to-door throughout the buildings. Participating rooms will be marked with an orange decoration, indicating that trick-or-treaters are welcome. Murray Hall will offer lobby-only trick-or-treating. The two lower campus halls — Katharine Thomas and Putnam Halls — will not participate in trick-or-treating this year but will provide an outdoor pumpkin display to drive by.
Towers Hall also will offer a scavenger hunt and a chance to win raffle prizes by completing the scavenger hunt that night or by donating a non-perishable food item in the lobby of Towers, where the scavenger hunt trick-or-treating starts.
Information is being shared with area preschools and elementary schools inviting students and their parents to the event.
Parking will be available in metered spaces, lots on lower and upper campus where signs permit, and in lot P8 at the Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Trick-or-treating in the UW-Eau Claire residence halls is a long-standing tradition for the children in the Eau Claire community. The event is sponsored by Oak Ridge Hall and Housing and Residence Life.
For more information, contact Linda Pratt, Oak Ridge Residence Hall director, at 715-836-3214 or the Housing office at 715-836-3674.
